Week in Florence – Day 4

firenze.7As you can see, I am an excellent babysitter!  This is Thomas helping out with the laundry, as I am a firm believer in getting kids to pull their weight around the house.  Yes, I’ve been doing the laundry for Lisa and had everything ironed as well before collecting Matteo & Thomas from their respective kinder and child care.

Housework aside I also managed to make Lisa and her family two dozen Mince Pies.  I bought a jar of my Fruit Mince with me with the intention of leaving a little Christmas present for her return to Italy.  I did think that she could possibly be eating a dozen a day while she’s in Australia, but am confident that my Fruit Mince is far superior any other. 😉

I still have a little virus lingering in my body though and I have absolutely no appetite. I’ve eaten hardly anything all week and I woke feeling queasy again and also with a headache. (Might be the only time I manage to lose weight)!  The sun was shining so I forced myself to have a walk into the beautiful centre of Florence again. I made myself have breakfast, and apart from the cup of tea I’ve just had with two sweet biscuits, that’s all I’ve managed to eat today. Back to my breakfast though.  I decided I may as well spoil myself and sit down in one of the beautiful bars.  ‘Sitting down’ in an Italian bar can make your bill incredibly more expensive…. I had a cappuccino and an apple pastry, at Rivoire, which is known to be famous for it’s chocolate since 1872. The morning sun was just starting to bathe Piazza Signoria in sunlight, so I sat for a good half hour to enjoy breakfast and the view. I felt that for €9.00 though, I was justified to sit there for as long as possible. Rivoire

The day went well, Matteo and Thomas were well behaved although Thomas does have a big bump on his head for falling over while holding my hand! (I did say I was a brava babysitter).
